An easy and beautiful 20 minute ferry ride from Red Hook will bring you into Cruz Bay on the island of St. John. Thanks to the vision, foresight and generosity of David Rockefeller, two-thirds of St. John, the second largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is one of the United States' lushest National Parks. Trunk Bay is a short 10 minute taxi ride along the scenic north side of St. John. Encircled by a magnificent pristine white sand beach, crystal clear water, Trunk Bay is the site of a beautiful underwater snorkeling trail. This natural environment is forever protected by the U.S. National Park service for us, our children and our children's children to come. The view encompasses the Sir Francis Drake channel, named after a highly decorated English pirate, which was the course taken by many a pirate vessel attempting to elude pursuing fleets. Today, Sir Francis Drake channel is a popular destination for charter and private boats. Again the best photo opportunities are in the afternoon.
